The Poetics of Politics

Our intractable American political divisions exist because we ignore how the problems of politics are rooted in narrative, poetic, and lyric representations of our shared existence. All of this to say, when we’re talking about politics and rural America we really, really, really need to be talking about metaphor, and story, and most of all, poetics.
